ハワイ島でも公共交通機関としてのバスが走っています。ヘレオンバス（Hele-On Bus）と呼ばれていてビッグアイランドのほとんどの町に行くことができます。但し、ヘレオンバスは地元の人々の通勤利用が主目的なので、早朝にそれぞれの町を出発してヒロやコナの市街地に向かい、午後になって仕事を終えた人々が地元に帰るというスケジュールで運行されています。なので旅行者が郊外にヘレオンバスで出かけるのは現実的ではありません。また日曜日は多くの路線が運休となっています。

これにより、「ヘレオンバス」を利用する際の運賃は、2024年12月21日まで無料となります。

Passengers deboarding at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park will have a $15.00 per pedestrian or bicycle entry fee be paid by the passenger directly to the park. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entry fee is valid for seven days. This fare is on top of the regular bus fare and any applicable additional fares paid.
ハワイ火山国立公園で降機されるお客様は、歩行者または自転車1台につき$15.00の入園料をお客様ご自身で直接公園へお支払いいただきます。 ハワイ火山国立公園入園料は7日間有効です。 この料金は、通常のバス料金および適用される追加料金に加算されます。
- The County of Hawai’i Mass Transit Agency Disability Identification Card Application may be obtained at the Mo’oheau Bus Terminal Information Center, 329 Kamehameha Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720

- County of Hawai’i Mass Transit Agency Disability Discount Identification Card Initial Fee – FREE
ハワイ州交通局障害者割引身分証明書 初期費用 – 無料 - County of Hawai’i Mass Transit Agency will replace up to three cards issued in a one year period and cards are valid for up to a two year period.
County of Hawai’i Mass Transit Agencyは、1年間に発行されたカードを3枚まで交換し、カードは最長2年間有効です。

ヘレオン・マンスリー・パス
Monthly passes are valid only for the month issued with no grace period. Passes are good for unlimited bus rides on all bus routes throughout the month they are purchased for. Lost bus passes will not be replaced. Copy of Proper ID required with order form submitted via mail, fax or email.
マンスリー・パスは発行された月のみ有効で、猶予期間はありません。パスは購入された月中、すべてのバス路線に乗り放題です。紛失したパスの再発行はできません。郵送、ファックス、Eメールでのご注文の際は、身分証明書のコピーが必要です。

Hele-On の固定ルートは、主に午前 3 時 15 分から午前 2 時 30 分まで年中無休で運行しています。一部のルートは月曜から金曜のみ運行します。
